Academic Booster Club

ABC:  Supporting Our Academic Resilience

The LCC Academic Booster Club (ABC) was established in 2007 as a partnership among administration, faculty, parents, students and the community to provide moral and financial support to promote and celebrate educational development and achievements at LCC. Parents of all LCC and Lima Catholic elementary school students, faculty, LCC students and supporters are invited to attend the monthly Academic Booster meetings.

Academic Letter Award Ceremony

The Academic Booster Club provides volunteer and financial support to recognize and promote academic achievement at LCC. The culminating event for the Club is the Academic Letter Award Ceremony held in the spring. The Boosters organize and fund a reception for all academic letter winners and their parents when the students are presented their letters during the fourth quarter of each school year.  The  next Academic Letter Awards Ceremony will be held on Tuesday, April 10, 2018.

Volunteer National Honor Society members maintain the Academics display case located in the main hallway at LCC to continually highlight students’ academic accomplishments. ABC coordinates farewell gifts and recognition for students who qualify to compete for state-level academic competitions.

Thanks to the generous support of our LCC families, community partners and the profits from various fundraising activities, the Academic Booster Club is able to fund many activities and allocate resources for faculty requests. Costs associated with recognition of student achievement, teacher appreciation events and the purchase of special materials and teacher training are often financed by the efforts of the Academic Boosters.

ACT Prep Course

The Academic Booster Club  sponsors an 8-week ACT prep class  prior to the spring ACT exam. The course generally begins approximately 9-10 weeks prior to the test date and is held at Lima Central Catholic.  It is taught by qualified and experienced Science, Math and English teachers. There is a fee for the course but it is generally less than that charged by other test preparation organizations. LCC students are given first priority but students from other schools are welcome to participate if the class is not filled.

The next ACT prep course will be held prior to the April 2018 spring ACT exam date. More details and registration information will be posted here when they become available.

Fundraising

The Academic Booster Club works closely with local community partners to obtain financial support for specific academic needs. Lima Memorial Hospital, Potash Corporation, Meijer, Reineke Family Dealerships and Dr. Charles Butts, DDS  have all been generous donors in the recent past. In addition, individual donors may request their contributions to the Annual Fund be directly earmarked for the Academic Booster Club.
