Red Tide Update September 2, 2010

Volleyball: The Volley for the Cure game will be played on October 12th at Columbus Grove High School. T-shirts will be sold prior to all home JV volleyball and home football games. Also we will have a selling day at LCC on Wednesday September 8th, during lunch, and St. Rose September 14th, other selling dates will follow.

This is about the 4th year for this and it is a great fund raiser for a very important issue many of our family and friends face.  The game is always an exciting atmosphere as both communities provide great support to their teams and on this night they come together to both work towards benefiting others.  Please come out to the game and enjoy a special evening.

The LCC Cross Country team competed in the Blue Jay Invitational at Stadium Park in Delphos on Saturday morning.

In the varsity girls division the lady T-Birds had 16 girls entered in the race and came away with a 10th place finish Top finisher for the T-Birds was Sarah Andrews who finished 26th overall in a time of 22:47. She was followed by Emily Hullinger 39th in 24:00, Tess Sunderhaus 47th in 24:31, Rebecca Fisher 48th in 24:36, Amelia Akers 49th in 24:37, Claire Dieringer 51st in 24:41 and Elizabeth Muha 59th in 25:03. The Lady T-Birds will continue to get stronger as the pack will move up in the field. Those achieving PR's in Delphos were Fisher, Akers, Samantha Williams, Emma Wagner, Olivia Watson and Breauna Bennett. Overall winner was Sarah Flickinger of Pandora Gilboa in 20:11 and the team champion was Spencerville.

In the Varsity boys division the T-Birds came away with a 4th place finish out of 13 teams. Once again leading the way for LCC was Senior Jim Kesner with a 6th place finish in a time of 17:28. He was followed by Scott Willeke 19th in 18:27, John Kidd 31st in 19:01, Joe Watson 36th in 19:13, Sam Hieder 52nd in 19:52, Dylan Fisher 55th in 19:55 and Nick Frisby 65th in 20:09. Those achieving PR's on Saturday were Willeke, Frisby, Chase Sreenan, Zach Ellsworth and Jacob Lhamon. Overall winner in the boys’ race was Kevin Lenhart of Spencerville in 16:49 and the team champion was Crestview. An interesting fact is that although Spencerville had the overall winner they finished in 5th place, one behind the Birds. This shows the importance off all seven runners in the overall scoring.

In the middle school boys race the T-Birds finished 4th lead by Alex Riggs 5th place finish in 12:16 over the 2 mile course.

In the middle school girls race Abby Stoll lead the way finishing 6th in 14:12. Unfortunately, our girls can't compete in the team events because we are one girl short. If there are any middle school girls that are interested in running please contact Coach Tim Dehaven.

The next meet is this coming Saturday at the Columbus Grove Invitational.
